The agreement between you and cotty. Short, and written to be read.

These Terms & Conditions are an agreement between you and Spectamatrix Solutions (“cotty”, “we”, “us”), covering the cotty website, the console at console.cotty.sh, the desktop apps and the Android app (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy forms part of this agreement.
cotty is an SSH client. It lets you register your own servers, open interactive terminal sessions to them, transfer files to and from them, and pick those sessions back up from another device. It is a tool for reaching infrastructure you already control — we do not provide the servers, and we have no relationship with them.
You need an account to use the Service, and you must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@cotty.sh if you believe your account has been compromised.
Please give accurate account information, and keep it current.
You must be authorised to access every host you connect to through cotty. Using cotty to reach a system you do not own or have permission to access is a serious misuse of the Service and may be a criminal offence where you live.
You are responsible for the credentials you add, for the commands you run, and for their consequences on your systems. cotty executes what you type; it does not review it. We strongly recommend using credentials scoped to the access you actually need, and rotating them if you stop using the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how stored credentials are encrypted and handled, including the fact that they are not end-to-end encrypted. Please read it before adding a credential.
You agree not to use cotty to:
We may suspend or close accounts that breach this section, and where we are required to, we will cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.
We aim to keep cotty running well, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of the Service, and we may impose reasonable limits on use. Where a change is significant and we can give notice, we will.
Because cotty sits between you and your infrastructure, please do not rely on it as your only means of reaching a critical system. Keep another way in.
cotty is currently free to use. If we introduce paid plans, we will set out the pricing and terms before you are charged, and using the free tier will never result in an unexpected charge.
The Service, including its software, design and branding, belongs to us and our licensors. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or create derivative works from it, except where such a restriction is prohibited by law or permitted by an applicable open-source licence.
Everything you put into cotty — your hosts, notes, session labels and layouts — remains yours. You grant us only the permission we need to operate the Service for you.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements or that it will be secure, timely or free from error.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business, arising out of or connected with your use of the Service — including any loss or damage to your own servers or data resulting from commands run through cotty.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred United States dollars (US$100).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
You may stop using cotty and delete your account at any time — from Settings in the app, or at console.cotty.sh/delete-account. You can also email support@cotty.sh. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service.
When your account is closed, your hosts and stored credentials are deleted. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — such as intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability — continue to apply.
We may update these terms as cotty changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will give notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts of India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or the Service, save that we may seek injunctive relief in any competent court to protect our intellectual property or the security of the Service.
